Blurb: Five years ago, Lexie walked home from school after her older brother failed to pick her up. When she entered her house, her brother sat calmly, waiting for the police to come arrest him for the heinous crime he had just committed.

Treated like a criminal herself, Lexie now moves from school to school hiding who she is—who she’s related to. She struggles with loving her brother, the PTSD she now suffers from and wanting to just live a normal life. But how can she be normal when she can’t even figure out how to just live?

This is a powerful look at the assumptions we make about people. Lexie’s emotional journey to separate her brother’s horrific act from herself is stunning and heartbreaking. This is Lexie’s story and journey—not her brother’s—and it will stay with you long after you turn the last page.

My thoughts on this book:

Lexi Lawlor is the new girl in town with an incredibly mysterious past. In this town, she manages to find love and embrace her past and flaws

The start of this book for me was pretty bland and confusing but I think the author meant to intrigue the reader for the second part of the book because that’s when things started to pick up and get interesting. ❤️ this book deals with dealing with grief and learning how to find yourself throughout all the pain.

Lexi is a pretty interesting character, her struggle with the past just hits you hard and her need for acceptance is relatable too ✨ there were some other characters which I personally think deserved way more in terms of redemption 🙈

The writing was simple and easy to understand and the plot was pretty well written although there are a few moments in the book where I didn’t really get ✨
Overall the story was pretty interesting, the way the author tells this particular story is really different and I really enjoyed reading it.

I rated it a 3/5 ✨

Would I recommend this book?
If you’re into mental health/self-acceptance contemporary books with a hint of romance, this book is definitely for you!!❤️

I hope all of you have a wonderful week! ❤️

Until the next blog post,
