Book Review: The Map from Here to There by Emery Lord

Hi friends! I’m going to share my thoughts about this lovely book!

Before we head on over to the review, I’d like to give a big THANK YOU to Pansing (@definitelybooks on IG) for graciously providing me a copy of this book and this book is NOW AVAILABLE in all good bookstores!✨

Author: Emery Lord
Pages: 368

Acclaimed author Emery Lord crafts a gorgeous story of friendship and identity, daring to ask: What happens after happily ever after?

It’s senior year, and Paige Hancock is finally living her best life. She has a fun summer job, great friends, and a super charming boyfriend who totally gets her. But senior year also means big decisions. Weighing “the rest of her life,” Paige feels her anxiety begin to pervade every decision she makes. Everything is exactly how she always wanted it to be–how can she leave it all behind next year? In her head, she knows there is so much more to experience after high school. But in her heart, is it so terrible to want everything to stay the same forever?

Emery Lord’s award-winning storytelling shines with lovable characters and heartfelt exploration of life’s most important questions.
My thoughts on this book:

This book was a sequel to the book, The Start of Me and You, which I absolutely adored! 😍 It highlights the moments AFTER happily ever after and what happens. Usually sequels for contemporary books aren’t that appealing but this book definitely changed my perspective. It raises the question of what truly happens after a happily ever after and how do they resolve that?  Also I’d also like to take a moment to gush about the STUNNING cover! *squeals 😍All of Emery Lord’s books have this colorful watercolor aesthetic and I just love them so much! OKAY, back to the review 🙈

I absolutely ADORED the first book, The Start of Me and You, so revisiting the characters and their funny and cute banter was really amazing! And the sequel was equally as amazing! These characters are now facing big changes therefore they are more matured and conflicted and it’s so cool to see them grow from what they were in the first book into much more complex characters that we weren’t able to see from the first book.

Paige and Max are just so cute together, their chemistry and conversations are always so refreshing. This time there are some issues that come in the way of their relationship so it was hard to read about but I totally get why it was done and I have to admit that the storyline was extremely well done. The plot twists and major moments were evenly paced and the author didn’t rush into them but gradually built them up through foreshadowing in the first few chapters of the book.

All in all, it was a GREAT sequel! 😍 I wasn’t expecting myself to like the sequel because I didn’t want to picture what came after the perfect ending in the first book but I’m so glad that i was able to read this book and I hope you guys will love it as much as I do!

I rated it a 4/5 🌟!

Would I recommend this book?
I would DEFINITELY! Of course after you’ve read the first book, The Start of Me and You ❤️

Wishing all of you have amazing day! ✨

Until the next blog post,
