Hi friends! It’s been a while since my last review, but I wanted to share my thoughts on this adorable contemporary that I’ve had my eye on ever since it was released!
Author: Lucy Score
Blurb: Can these opposites turn up the heat… without burning down the house?
House-flipping sensation and YouTube star Maggie Nichols can’t wait to dig into her next challenge. Arriving in tiny Kinship, Idaho, with only a cot and a coffeemaker, Maggie is prepared to restore a crumbling Victorian mansion in four months or less. She has her to-do lists, her blueprints, and her team. What she doesn’t have is time for sexy, laid-back landscaper Silas Wright.
The man takes flirtation to a whole new level. And he does it shirtless…sometimes pants-less. He and his service school-dropout dog are impressively persistent. But she’s not interested in putting down roots. Not when fans tune in to watch her travel the country turning dilapidated houses into dream homes. A short-term fling on the other hand could fit nicely into her calendar. After all, Maggie remembers what fun is like. Vaguely.
As their summer gets downright steamy, Silas manages to demolish the emotional walls she’s spent years building, sending Maggie into a panic. He’s the wrench in her carefully constructed plans. With the end of the project looming, she has a decision to make. But how can she stay when her entire career is built on moving on?
My heart is so warm after reading this because I swear small-town romances are like therapy for me, everyone is so wholesome and welcoming and I feel like they’re all cinnamon rolls!
I loved the Youtube element in this book! Maggie is a famous Youtuber with a house flipping channel and I LOVED seeing all the behind-the-scenes and the process of planning out the episodes were so interesting!
There was a mystery element to the plot as well which I really loved! It was like a side plot mostly so it was interesting to see it being developed and it was one of my fave parts of the book as well 😍
Silas’ and Maggie’s chemistry and banter were just amazing 😍 I found myself eagerly awaiting their scenes together and I loved it so so much 🥺 there was a found family feeling to this book and it was just so precious and heartwarming
I will say that plot-wise, it was a bit longer than I’d wish it to be. There were some parts that felt a bit too dragged on and I feel like a faster-paced plot would’ve fit the story a lot better.
Overall this was just the perfect heartwarming small-town read! The romance, the banter, and the mystery was an absolute delight!
My Rating: 4/5 stars
